Spirits and Permissions

Hullo, my lovelies! Continuing on with the Thinning of the Veil series and how to cope with all the shifting energies around this time of year, today is going to be about how to deal with unwanted spirits--ghosts, interfering guides, or anything else from another plane of existence.

And the key to this is permission. Nothing can harm or bother you without your permission. Most of us don't even think about this in our daily lives and implicitly give permission for all sorts of craziness to enter. If you're one of those people, take a moment to center yourself with a few deep breaths or a quick grounding meditation, and tell whatever spirits are bothering you that you're not available and they don't have permission to keep pestering you.

If it helps, imagine yourself like a teacher and the spirits are your students. You have a body and they don't, and that puts you in charge. When you're in the classroom (aka, you want to deal with whatever's bothering you), you tell them they have permission to contact you, in a calm, orderly fashion. When you're at home (when you don't want to deal with it, or can't for whatever reason), tell them they don't have permission to even make themselves known or be around you. Make time for both being 'in the classroom' and 'at home' to make sure you don't anger anything or go insane from trying to deal with it all.

Another way is to simply tell them they don't exist, and then go about pretending that they don't. Most of the time, they'll take the hint and leave you alone.

If you have any other ways to deal with unruly spirits, please post them in the comments! We'd love to hear about them!

Bubble Shields are Friends, Not Food

Hello, my lovelies! Two months after we set up this blog, it's finally gearing up to get rolling; huzzah!

With the veil between the worlds growing thinner every day now as we approach Halloween, I'd bet a lot of you sensitives out there have felt the shift. Whether you're seeing more spirits than normal, feeling things around, or just feel that something's changed, it's so easy to get overwhelmed at this time of year. So for the next few days, I (Emer ní Brid, in case you were wondering), will be posting some tips and tricks for dealing with all the crazy energies going around at the moment.

First up: the basic bubble shield. This is a super simple psychic shielding technique that can be used to protect yourself from all sorts of unwanted energies, including pesky spirits. Click the cut below to find out how to do it!

What is an Indigo Youth, Anyway?

First of all, hello world! My name is Emer ní Brid (that's Emer, daughter of Brigid/Brid, for those of you who don't know Irish Gaelic), and I'm here to spread the word about the Indigo Youth in Action organization and various aspects of spiritual and psychic growth and awareness. No, this isn't a Pagan blog, don't worry. The information here will be applicable and useful to people on all walks of life, no matter what your spiritual leanings. This is a place for anyone who's interested in metaphysics and exploring or strengthening psychic abilities.

So what is an Indigo youth*, anyway? Named after the abnormal amount of indigo coloring in their auras, Indigo youths are young people who exhibit a wide variety of psychic gifts and are often thought to have incarnated now as the next wave of human evolution, or to help save the human race from themselves. Regardless of why you think Indigo youth are here, we're here and people are awakening to their Indigo nature every day.

Personally, I have empathic abilities. That means I can sense the feelings of others around me, even vaguely, and can project my own emotions if I'm not careful. Empathy is generally considered to help with divination and healing, but can be extremely detrimental if uncontrolled, like all psychic gifts. Other members of our group are clairsentients (they 'know' the future, or things happening in other places that they couldn't physically know about), spirit communicators, and intiutives. We definitely range the gamut of psychic gifts.

Some common traits of Indigo youth:
  • Very clear knowledge of who they are after a certain age
  • Difficulty with authority
  • Extreme stubbornness
  • Hatred of standing in line/waiting, and other various activities
  • Nonconformity
  • Either strong empathic tendencies or is completely shut off
  • Displays symptoms of ADD/ADHD
  • Easily bored
  • Generally very intelligent
  • Creative
  • Frustrated with ritual-based systems
  • Wisdom beyond their years
Of course, Indigo traits aren't restricted to children and young adults. Indigo adults do certainly exist! And some of them are the fantastic leaders of the IYiA. So, if you feel like you may be an Indigo, have psychic gifts and are interested in exploring them, or are just want to learn more, please stop by often! And don't be afraid to drop by our Facebook page, either. We'd love to see you!

*For the purposes of this blog, I will not be using the term "Indigo Children," as most of us in the IYiA organization are no longer children, but youths and young adults!
